How does Cleared work out my debt-free date?

Each month, every debt gets interest at its APR (divided by 12), then its minimum payment. Whatever is left of your monthly amount goes to your focus debt; when that one is paid off, its money rolls on to the next. Cleared repeats this month by month until every balance reaches zero, and that month is your debt-free date. It's an estimate from the numbers you enter; your lenders' figures may differ slightly.

Snowball, avalanche or my order: which should I pick?

Snowball pays the smallest balance first, so you clear whole debts sooner and stay motivated. Avalanche pays the highest interest rate first, so you pay the least interest overall. My order lets you set the order yourself with the arrows on the Plan tab. Switch any time; the date redraws.

How do I log a payment?

Tap Log this payment on Today, tick a debt on This month's payments, or say "Log a payment in Cleared". The number pad starts at this month's planned amount for that debt; change it if you paid something else. The balance drops right away and Cleared tells you whether your debt-free date moved. Deleting a payment (Color › Milestones & payments) puts its amount back on the balance.

What does the "What if you added more?" slider do?

On the Plan tab's payoff path, slide to add an extra amount each month. Cleared shows the new debt-free date and how much interest you'd save. Tap Make it my plan to raise your monthly amount by that much.

What are the squares on the Color tab?

Each square is a slice of debt you've paid off (Cleared picks the size, or choose it in Settings). When you've earned new squares, sweep your finger across them to color them in, or turn on Color them for me. Milestones show the month each debt goes, when you're halfway, and your debt-free month.

How do the free trial and the unlock work?

Every feature is free for 14 days, with nothing to pay and no card on file. After that, adding and editing needs the one-time $19.99 unlock. It is not a subscription. Your plan stays viewable and exportable either way, and the sample plan can always be explored. Family Sharing lets up to six people in your family use one purchase.

I got a new phone, or reinstalled. Where is my plan and my purchase?

Sign in with the same Apple Account. If Keep a copy in my iCloud was on, your plan comes back by itself. In the app, open Settings and tap Restore purchase to bring back the unlock. You can also restore from a backup file (Settings › Backup, restore & help › Restore from a backup).

I use the Debt Payoff Planner, Foldable Edition web app. Can I bring my data?

Yes. In the web app, open Settings › Backup, restore & help › Save a backup file. In Cleared, open Settings › Backup, restore & help › Restore from a backup and pick that file. Your debts, payments, monthly amount and strategy come across. Backups saved in Cleared open in the web app too.

How do I add the widgets?

Touch and hold your Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit then Add Widget, and search for Cleared. Choose Debt-free date or Next payment.

Can I use Siri?

Yes. Say "When am I debt-free in Cleared" or "Log a payment in Cleared".

Does Cleared connect to my bank or my lenders?

No, on purpose. You enter your own balances from your statements, so there is nothing to link, nothing to break and nothing to share. Update a balance whenever a new statement arrives.
